Advanced Open Water in Catalina

This past weekend, my two roommates Cliff and Dan, and I all completed our Advanced Open Water courses to become Advanced Open Water Divers!  We had already completed our Buoyancy, Underwater Navigation, and Night Dives on previous trips to Veteran's Park in Redondo Beach.  On this trip we completed a Deep Dive and a Wreck Dive to round out the required five 'adventrue dives'.  We traveled to Catalina Island (about an hour by boat from Long Beach, CA) early in the morning, arriving a little after 7am.

After taking a taxi to our dive site at Casino Point, we geared up, went through our dive plans and set off.  We had two excellent instructors with us, Steve Millington and Dwight Hutchinson of LA Scuba Diving.  The weather was excellent, no waves, good visibility, clear skies, and no wind.  We had a chance to see a real wreck, the Su Jac, some amazing kelp forests, lots of fish, a lobster and other bottom dwellers.  We dove to around 70 feet for the first two dives and as deep as 50 for the third dive.

My intrepid dive buddy, Dan Singleton made a little video out of our third and final dive of the day.  This dive had no skills to work on, no instruction, just good ol' fun and exploration.  Thanks to Steve, Dwight, Cliff and Dan for making this the best diving experience to date!

Welcome

Welcome to the newly launched chasewirth.com!

The site has a few funtions.  First, it's a learning ground for the nerdy stuff that I find interesting and it gives me a website to host and maintain.  Through this site, I can actively learn about internet technologies.  To see what has been updated, you can visit Projects > This Website.  The other "Projects" are not yet really up and running, but I have some humble plans for them.

Second, it provides a place where I can share the things that I am doing with those that would be interested.  "I went on a hike - here are some pictures!" kind of stuff.  To see that more personal side of my website, just visit my Blog.

Cheers,
cw
